Publicado el 29/07/2013 I was moved to write this song today in response to the terrible tragedy happening in the city of Toronto. Sammy Yatim died of a gunshot wound in hospital after officers fired at least nine shots into the streetcar early Saturday. A vigil will be held at the scene Monday, July 29 to protest against police violence.

A Song For Sammy Words and music by Béla Ray © July 29, 2013

It took nine shots to take him down, crucified, on a bus downtown. A young school boy, with a three inch blade, the price of life, another man paid.

Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun. Lord what have we done, to our son.

We stand our ground, and we still try to serve and protect, with a compassionate eye. Our aim is high, with hope to live, a life of love, and much more to give.

Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun. Lord what have we done, to our son.

Out of the red, and into the blue, into the light, and right on through. Just need a miracle, or two, love each other, help each other through.

We got to learn to love each other lift the veil, remove the covers. We're all one, and one is all, sometimes we forget, some nights we fall.

Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun. Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun. Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun. Lord, what have we done. A young boy's life, had just begun.
